Labor and skills required to install solar system are expected to increase rapidly as government is encouraging solar energy installed at home and office with the introduced Feed-In Tariffs (FIT) to generate passive income.
  • To cater for human capital development in solar related program, SEDA has developed courses to provide Malaysians with skills in the designing, installation, andm maintenance of a Grid Connected Photovoltaic (GCPV) System. In fact, SEDA has the authority to ensure that only competent person is allowed to perform solar related work and ensure safety is followed as per Malaysian Standards.
Course content
  • SEDA Malaysia – Grid-Connected Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems Installer and Maintenance Training Course.
  • Module 1: Occupational Safety and Health Practice
    1. To prepare guideline on Occupational Safety and Health Act
    2. To familiarize on guideline for Occupational Safety and Health Act (practical)
    3. Types of common hazard at workplace
    4. Identification of hazard that could happen (practical)
    5. Recording procedure and documentation
    6. Checking list and hazard safety record(practical)
  • Module 2: Introduction to Solar Eelectricity
    1. Explanation of basic principle of electricity
    2. Explanation of basic principle of solar photovoltaic (PV)
    3. Explanation of principle of Balance of System (BOS) component and system operation
    4. Interpretation of Electrical drawing
  • Module 3: Preparation of System Installation
    1. Preparation of system component
    2. Identification of location
    3. Measurement of orientation and tilt angle
    4. Inspection of system installation
  • Module 4: System Device and Electrical System Installation
    1. Mounting of Inverter
    2. Mounting of DC combiner box / AC distribution box
    3. Installation of PV module on rooftop and ground
    4. Cabling of PV module system
    5. Cabling of inverter
    6. Layout plan of schematic diagram
    7. Implementation of DC Combiner and AC Distribution Box
    8. Implementation of Earthing system
    9. Installation of lightning protection
  • Module 5: Corrective Maintenance
    1. Inspection procedure
    2. Identification of fault
    3. Checking of schematic diagram
    4. Inspection of system integrity and power output
    5. Replacement of faulty component
    6. Verification of power output
Learning Outcome
  1. Participants are competent with SEDA requirement for installation work.
  2. Participants are familiar with Solar PV manufacturing process.
  3. Participants are able to integrate the learning in manufacturing process with solar installation work.
