INTRODUCTION

This course offers an introductory course for the benefit of the non-electrical engineering professionals who are active in the electric utility industry and who wish to gain a better understanding of the basic principles guiding the operation and the design of electrical systems and electrical safety in work place. Health and safety aspects are incorporated into the modules to provide participants with knowledge on performing work functions with due care.

OBJECTIVE
On completion of the course participant gain the followings:
• To understand the basic principles of electricity and function of components.
• To understand the area of the electrical installation, maintenance, testing, repair and inspection of the Low Voltage electrical equipments.
• Required knowledge on the Laws related to the handling power supply as mentioned in the Electricity Act Supply.

EXPERIENCING ON BOSCH SENSOR AND IOT TECHNOLOGY

INTRODUCTION:

  1. Learn general understanding what are IoT devices and IoT gateways as well as their functions and features.
  2. Identify real world problems to be mitigated or solved and the information related to them that can be used.
  3. Generate use case on the problems as well as identify the functional requirements.
  4. Identify parameters and their respective data to be gathered.
  5. Identify simple thresholds (lower bound and upper bound) values for parameters.
  6. Identify type of sensors suitable to capture the specific type of data.
  7. Hands on with IoT gateways user interface and perform set up and configuration.
  8. Familiarize with hardware modules and digital and analogue I/O and learn how to do the configuration.
  9. Familiarize with sensors, actuators and electronic motors their types and their suitable field applications and how to configure these devices as endpoints in IoT gateway.
  10. Learn to establish connections between sensors and IoT gateway.
  11. Create simple data processing that can be stored on cloud service being streamed by the devices or endpoints.
  12. Build a simple dashboard apps that visualize the real world data being captured using various chart widgets.

Name : Dr. Selvakumar Manickam

About Trainer:

Dr. Selvakumar Manickam is a senior lecturer and researcher at National Advanced IPv6 Centre (NAv6), Universiti Sains Malaysia. He has been involved in training, coaching and consulting for almost20 years and is a trained leader working in the field of ICT and computing. His in corporate training started as a freelance trainer in 1998 in covering programming (C++, Java, Visual Basic, Perl, tcl/tk,etc.), Linux and windows server administration, kernel driver programming, advanced networking,telecommunication, games development, Artificial Intelligence, etc.

Later, he joined Intel Corporation as IT Program Manager but continued to provide training internally in relevant areas. In 2009, he joined National Advanced IPv6 Centre (Nav6), Universiti Sains Malaysia as Senior Lecturer. In his current role, he continued doing what he is good at, providing corporate training programs. He carried out train-the trainer programs and formed a training team. Together, they have trained hundreds of participants in the areas of Cyber security, IPv6, Cloud Computing, Software-Defined Network (SDN), Internet Governance, Android Mobile Development, Web (php) Development, database design, etc.

In recent years, he has also forayed into new areas namely Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0.In relation to this, he has trained in topics including Python programming (basic to advanced, data analytics using pandas, machine learning using tensor flow, IoT, secs/gem, etc.), IoT using Node-red and Thingsbox for the non-technicals, building cyber-physical systems for factory automation, etc. Because of the dedication, he is well known for her highly-charged, energetic and power-packed training sessions. Selva also holds many other portfolio in addition to being an affluent trainer. He has authored and coauthored more than 140 articles in journals, conference proceedings and book reviews. He has graduated 9 PhDs. NECT-Gen Industry 4

National Empowerment in Certification and Training for Next Generation Workers
NECT-Gen Industry 4.0 Programme 

NECT-Gen is initiated by Penang Skills Development Center ( PSDC ) together with Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) to up-skill and certify our current and next generation of workforce through high value technology certification and training programmes. In order to achieve this objective, KISMEC has been officially selected as one of the Centre of Excellence in Technology (CoET) that would play a vital role in assisting the nation in:

  • Transforming the current industry 2.0 to Industry 4.0
  • Reaching 35% skilled workforce target by 2020.

The NECT-Gen program is defined as the National Empowerment in Certification and Training for Next Generation Workforce and would serve as a catalyst to propel the nation and industries technologically. This objective can be achieved by conducting series of high impact industry 4.0 certification programmes that would target all levels of workforce and location centric at selected Centre of Excellence in Technology (CoET) throughout Malaysia.

Malaysia’s Industry 4.0 Landscape

In Malaysia, majority of the industries are still in industry 2.0 and this is a serious matter as we need to leap over a revolution towards achieving Industry 4.0. There are a number of issues being faced by the industries in Malaysia in moving towards Industry 4.0. One of the challenges lies in the shortage of supply in technologically trained workers which derived from ICT graduates from Higher Learning Institution’s quality are not able to meet industry demand and lack of professional recognition and accreditation programmes offered across Malaysia. All these factors have been reported in the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) findings and PIKOM ICT Strategic Review 2014/2015.

Roles of Centre of Excellence in Technology (CoET)

In order to achieve synchronisation of industry 4.0 for the whole of Malaysia, the CoETs which consists of State Skills Centres (SSLC), Universities and Polytechnics are empowered to carry out these programs. These CoETs will be equipped and enabled to deliver Industry 4.0 certification programmes in order to achieve the following targets:

I.      To assist industries in each state to transform from industry 2.0 to Industry 4.0
II.    To up-skill/re-skill and certify the current workforce with relevant Industry 4.0 technology

9 PILLARS OF INDUSTRY 4.0

1- Autonomous robots.
Long used to tackle complex tasks, robots provide an ever wider range of services and are becoming more autonomous, flexible, and cooperative. They will interact with one another and work safely with humans (the term “cobotics” is used to describe robots helping operators perform their tasks). Eventually, they will be able to learn from humans.

2- Simulation.
3D simulation of product development, material development and production processes will become widespread. It will leverage real-time data to mirror the physical world in a virtual model that will include machines, products, and humans. Operators will be able, for example, to test and optimize the machine settings for the next product even before production starts, thereby reducing machine setup times and improving quality.

3- Horizontal and vertical system integration.
Today, information systems are not fully integrated. Companies are rarely connected with their suppliers and customers. Engineering design departments are seldom linked directly to production within its own organization. But with Industry 4.0, the entire organization will be interconnected, and companies will be connected with one another.

4- The Industrial Internet of Things.
Few machines are currently fitted with sensors and interconnected. With the Industrial Internet of Things, an ever greater number of products will incorporate intelligence and be connected using standard protocols. This will decentralize analytics and decision-making, enabling real-time responses.

5- Cybersecurity.
The days of closed, unconnected operational management systems are over. Connectivity and communication protocols are becoming the norm. Protecting information systems and manufacturing lines from cybercrime threats is becoming a critical issue. Sophisticated identity and machine access management systems will be used to provide secure, reliable communications.

6- The Cloud.
The operating processes of Industry 4.0 require more data sharing across sites and companies. The performance of cloud technologies will improve, achieving response times of mere milliseconds. This will foster the development of an ever greater number of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MESs) based on cloud-stored machine data.

7- Additive manufacturing.
Companies have just begun to adopt 3D printing for prototyping and unit production. With Industry 4.0, these technologies will be chosen for their very high performance in producing small batches of customized products. Decentralized systems will reduce transportation and inventory management costs.

8- Augmented reality.
Augmented-reality tools are still in their infancy, but they are paving the way for new services. For example, they will provide operators with the real-time information they need for faster decision-making and for improving work processes.

9- Big data and analytics.
There are still massive sets of untapped data in the industrial world. Their analysis will optimize production quality, save energy, and improve services. Here as well, the goal is to allow real-time decision-making.

NECT-GEN – INDUSTRY 4.0 OBJECTIVES

TRACK A INDUSTRY 4.0 BIG DATA

Track Overview

These days, the manufacturing sector is finding itself overloaded with increasing amount of data from various sources, and there is a need to gather all that data, collate and organise them in a coherent manner, and use the analytics provided by these data sets to support management’s decision making.

Business cannot afford to ignore the data coming in as they might provide to be very useful when it comes to optimization of production quality and service, reduce energy consumption, and improve efficiencies in the production process

Who should attend this track?

This course is intended for database professionals who need to create and support a data warehousing solution. Primary responsibilities include: Implementing a data warehouse, developing SSIS packages for data extraction, transformation, and loading, enforcing data integrity by using Master Data Services, and cleansing data by using Data Quality Services.

TRACK B INDUSTRY 4.0 CLOUD COMPUTING

Track Overview

The large data sets involved in Industry 4.0 means data sharing will have a broader reach or range. The usual cloud-based software that a manufacturing company has been using in the past may no longer be enough to hold all that data.

Thanks to the continuous efforts of developers cloud technologies are improving, becoming more enabled for manufacturing and production systems.

Who should attend this track?

This course is intended for IT Professionals working in the software industry who wants to formally get the understanding of Cloud computing technologies, software developers who want to start understand cloud technologies to be developing cloud applications in the future, startups that want to build their IT infrastructure in the cloud at a fraction of the cost of traditional methods, DBAs who want to morph into Cloud Database Administrators and also System Administrators who wants to manage cloud infrastructure and networks.

TRACK C INDUSTRY 4.0 INTERNET OF THINGS

Track Overview

Embedded computing and networking are seen to be requirements if a manufacturer wants its processes to be fully integrated and automated.

The Industrial Internet of Things will make this possible, since field devices wil be designed and equipped for networking, so that they are able to interact and communicate with each other, while also becoming connected with a control centre or command.

Who should attend this track?

This course is designed for IT and operations technology (OT) professionals and control engineers who will be involved with the configuration, operation, and support of networked industrial products and solutions for the following industries:

• Manufacturing
• Process control
• Oil and Gas
• Other industries as applicable

TRACK D INDUSTRY 4.0 CYBER SECURITY

Track Overview

As more and more companies are going online, there is an increasing demand for higher security, considering the amount and nature of data or information that are uploaded or shared in networks.

Industrial systems are becoming increasingly vulnerable to threats. To address this, cyber security measures have to be put in place.

Who should attend this track?

This course is designed primarily for cyber security practitioners who perform job functions related to protecting information systems by ensuring their availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and non-repudiation.

This course focuses on the knowledge, ability, and skills necessary to provide for the defense of those information systems in a cyber security context, including protection, detection, analysis, investigation, and response processes. In addition, the course ensures that all members of an IT team – from help desk staff to the Chief Information Officer – understand their roles in these security processes

TRACK E INDUSTRY 4.0 VERTICAL INTEGRATION

Track Overview

This calls for an enterprise view of data and networking of systems. It’s the only way to ensure collaboration not only across enterprise departments, but also between partners across value chains, both vertically and horizontally.

Vertical integration of smart production systems – such as demand levels, stock levels, machine defects and unforeseen delays.

Who should attend this track?

This course is designed primarily for business analyst, business process owner, developer, IT administrator, team lead, trainer, power user or executive, if you are interested in working with SAP – this is the beginning.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Participants must be Malaysian
  • Participants must be an employee of HRDF levy-contributing company
  • Participants can only select and attend ONE (1) track
  • Participants must fulfill the track prerequisites
  • Participants must attend all training sessions and fill up all relevant attendance and evaluation forms
  • Participants are not allowed to withdraw from the Program once their registration is approved
  • Participants must sit for all relevant examinations after attending the training
  • Any revision or re-examination attempt by participants will be at their own cost
  • Participants must complete the Tracer Study form and submit a copy of their certificate to KISMEC
